Byram Woman Charged in House Burglary

GREENWICH, Conn. – A Byram woman was charged Saturday with burglarizing a Byram Shore Road home that had been damaged in a fire, police report.

Laura Laguerra, 52, of 172 Byram Shore Road went to the house twice Saturday with four other people to take tables, chairs and other household items, according to the police. Officers said they were alerted when Laguerra returned to take the washer and dryer. The house was damaged in a Sept. 17 fire and unoccupied since.

Laguerra had persuaded the others that they would not be breaking the law if they helped her, according to Lt. Kraig Gray, spokesman for the Greenwich Police Department. Her helpers were not charged. The missing items, valued at more than $5,300, were recovered.

Laguerra was charged with burglary at night, burglary, and two counts of larceny and was being held on a $10,000 bond. Police found out Sunday that the name Laguerra initially gave police, Alicia Rios, was false. She was additionally charged with forgery and interfering with an officer.

She was being held on a $50,000 bond and is due in court on Oct. 24.
