Boyfriend Arrested on Assault Charge

A Greenwich man was arrested today after a domestic incident in which he hit his girlfriend in the face in front of their 17-month-old child, police said. When police arrived at the couple's home, the woman said her boyfriend had become angry after hearing to their child cry through the night.

The woman said he told her that she was deliberately upsetting the baby to annoy him. He allegedly punched her in the head, then hit her in the face while she was holding the toddler, causing her lip to swell and bleed.

The man drove off in his car after the incident. Police located him and arrested him on charges of third-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. He was held on $1,000 bond and was to appear in court today.
