Blankley's Wife Prepares for Campaign's End

GREENWICH, Conn. – Vera Blankley, the wife of the Democratic candidate for Greenwich first selectman John Blankley, put up one last sign outside her District 10 polling location in anticipation of casting her vote.  

“I’m feeling good. I’ve already been called a European socialist by a voter at the high school, before I opened my mouth,” said Vera, laughing. “I am an American Democrat and proud of it.”

At home, Vera, who works freelance as a conference interpreter, is preparing for the election to be over. “It will be a change in our lives afterwards whatever the outcome is going to be because John put so much effort into the campaign and so much enthusiasm, but it’s all been very worthwhile I think.”
