Be Green! Recycle Your Christmas Tree

You can be conscious of the environment this holiday season by turning in your Christmas tree to the town to be recycled. The Department of Parks and Recreation will recycle the trees by chipping them. Residents can use the chips as mulch and compost, while the town will use remaining chips for mulch in parks and as shrub beds and soil stabilizers on trails in woodlands. Trees must have all decorations removed, including lights, stands and ornaments.

From now until Jan. 31, residents can drop off trees at several collection sites, including the Holly Hill Recycling Center, during the week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon, in the yard waste area; Byram Park, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot by the concession stand; at Bruce Park, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the children's playground parking lot; and at Greenwich Point, from 6 a.m. to sunset in the first parking lot opposite the nature center.
