Anthony Capablo, Greenwich Little League Coach

Lifelong Cos Cob resident Anthony Allen Capablo died Sunday after a short battle with cancer. He was 83.

In his youth, Capablo sang and performed pantomime shows throughout Greenwich. He graduated from Greenwich High School in 1946 and went on to work for Conde Nast publishers and as a sales representative for Mahalick Corp. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Church, the Knights of Columbus, St. Lawrence Club, Cos Cob Old Timers and Glenville Seniors. He also coached Little League and was an avid Red Sox fan.

In his retirement, he and his wife, Lucy Maricano Capablo, enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Italy, Hawaii, and Las Vegas with the Glenville Seniors.

Capablo is survived by his wife; children Toni Ann Capablo and husband Carlos Collazo of Greenwich, Lisa Capablo Floros and husband Michael Floros of Newtown, Anthony Capablo Jr. and wife Jenny of Fairfield; and six grandchildren.

Family and friends may call at the Castiglione Funeral Home at 134 Hamilton Ave. in Greenwich on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery.
