Angela Raffel, Retired Greenwich High Teacher

Angela Raffel, a former Greenwich High School teacher and lifelong educator, died Friday. She was 90.

Raffel was born in White Plains, N.Y., and attended Good Counsel College as well as New York University and the University of Bridgeport. She taught high school throughout her career in Lewis, Del.; Port Chester, N.Y.; and Greenwich. At Greenwich High School, she was the adviser of the Green Witch, the school’s literary magazine. She taught AP English and Humanities and sponsored the National Honor Society.

After retiring from Greenwich High School, she taught at Scarsdale High School, Clarkstown Schools and Bridgeport University, and into her 80s she was an adjunct professor at Rockland Community College. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Chapter, for leading educators and belonged to the Society for Educational Reconstruction.

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Kelly McWilliams and husband Roy J. McWilliams; sister Vera Bianco; sister-in-law Ethel Bialer; and a niece and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the McMahon Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home, 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains at noon Wednesday. Burial will follow at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Mount Pleasant, N.Y.
