The sign outside First United Methodist Church in Greenwich might make you wonder if they've lost their religion. "Worship a Waste of Time" it says. Did the East Putnam Avenue church actually put that up, or did atheists sabotage the bulletin board?
To put your minds at ease, there are no saboteurs running rampant in Greenwich, at least to our knowledge. First United's pastor, Ariel Ferrari, said the church was trying to think of catchy phrases to grab people's attention and bring them into the church. "It was for last Sundays sermon," Ferrari said. "The church wanted to make people think, and we have had many phone calls about the bulletin board." Oh, yeah!
