Two Glenville Kids Cop a Cool Ride to School

Two Greenwich kids arrived at Glenville Elementary Tuesday morning with blaring sirens and flashing lights. Then the police officer who drove them wished them a good day over the cruiser’s loud speaker.

“They had a great time, but I think they were a little overwhelmed,” said Susanna, the mother of one of the boys.

The ride was a prize Susanna and her husband Donald (who preferred not to have their last names used) won at a silent auction to benefit the school. Their child, John, and his friend Danny were the lucky recipients.

Greenwich Officer Robert Smurlo arrived at John’s home Tuesday to pick up the boys. He showed them the car and gave them junior police badges, then whisked them away to school.

“He was very excited to drive the kids to school,” said Susanna.
