Tennis Clinics Offered in Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – Tennis amateurs and enthusiasts can learn to play at clinics offered in Greenwich by the Department of Parks and Recreation.

The department will open registration for all summer tennis classes for children age 4 up to adult intermediate levels beginning April 2. Summer clinics will begin June 4 and run for one-week sessions throughout the summer. Summer programs meet Monday through Thursday, with a rain makeup on Friday, if needed.

The cost of each weeklong clinic is $65 for 4- to 5-year-olds in the lollipop program, $70 for 6- to 7-year-olds in the pee wee program, $75 for one-hour junior and adult classes, and $90 for the one-and-a-half-hour adult classes.

All 33 town of Greenwich tennis courts are open for play, although there is no public use of any school tennis courts when classes are in session until 6 p.m. All residents must have a valid tennis card to play on any of the town’s tennis courts.

To receive tennis card applications, call the Department of Parks and Recreation at 203-622-7817. The cost for a tennis card is $30 for the season, and guest cards are also available for $50. Children ages 5 to 15 as well as seniors may use these park passes.

The lights at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center will be on until 10 p.m. each day starting Monday, May 7.
