GREENWICH, Conn. Those in Greenwich with an adventurous side are invited to take part in a midwinter dip in Long Island Sound as part of Family Centers inaugural Polar Bear Plunge.
All proceeds from the event sponsored by the group's Associate Board will benefit Family Centers programs, which provide education, health and counseling services to thousands of Fairfield County children and families.
The plunge takes place Sunday Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. at Geneve Holdings Corp., located at 96 Cummings Point Road, Stamford. Pre-event entertainment, light food and warming tents will be available to all participants and spectators beginning at 9:30 a.m. A post-plunge party will be held at Tiernans Bar in Stamford at 1 p.m.
All participants are encouraged to asked for sponsorship. Prizes will be awarded to the plungers who garner the most donations. To register or to sponsor an individual plunger, visit the Family Centers website. The Polar Bear Plunges $25 entry fee also includes a limited-edition T-shirt.
