GREENWICH, Conn. One of the most sought-after ensembles in the country, the Orion String Quartet, will come to the Greenwich Library Cole Auditorium on Saturday, Nov. 6, to perform works by classic and contemporary composers.
The quartet has been praised for the fresh perspective and individuality it brings to works from the standard quartet literature. The group remains on the cutting edge of programming with commissions from composers Chick Corea, David Del Tredici, John Harbison, Leon Kirchner, Marc Neikrug, Peter Lieberson and Wynton Marsalis.
The groups affiliation with the Chamber Music Society and the State University of New York at Purchase Colleges music conservatory further attests to the esteem in which Orion String Quartet is held in chamber music circles.
The performance in the librarys Cole Auditorium will include Bach, Webern, Mozart and Brahms. The concert is free and open to all. Doors open at 4 p.m. For more information, contact David Waring at 203-622-7917.
