Sign Up for Winter/Spring Sports in Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. – Kids basketball and T-ball players can soon register for winter break and spring programs through the Greenwich Department of Parks and Recreation.

The Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center is registering children in first through fourth grades for a school winter recess basketball clinic from Monday, Feb. 13, to Friday, Feb. 17.

The clinics will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Boys and girls will be split up according to ability and age and taught basketball fundamentals and skills. The cost for the five- day program is $225.

The program will be under the direction of John Czarnecki, who has coached basketball at Greenwich High School, the Greenwich Flames, and boys and girls travel teams. He currently is working with high school and travel players to improve their basketball skills.

Registration for Coed T-Ball, by mail only, begins Feb. 27. The program will meet on Saturday afternoons from April 28 to June 9 at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center Field. Each Saturday afternoon there will be a practice and a three-inning game. The cost is $87 and includes a team shirt and hat.

There are two separate T-Ball programs this year. Five-year-old T-Ball is for kids who will turn 5 by April 30 and will use the “T” for hitting throughout the program. Six-year-old T-Ball is for kids who will turn 6 by April 30 and will be a combination of coach pitch and use of the “T.” Children turning 7 years old by April 30 are not eligible.
