Seminar Tips Can Conquer College Essays

The Greenwich Library is hosting a seminar offering quick and dirty tips of writing a good paper. The seminar is aimed at high school seniors about to start writing essays for college applications.

Alan Gelb, author of "Conquering the College Admissions Essay in 10 Steps," will help students focus on interesting topics and use creative writing techniques. According to library public relations officer Kate Petrov, Gelb will also explain how to incorporate personality and strength into each essay.

Gelb is an independent marketing consultant for colleges and universities. He is also the author of "The Complete Student: Achieving Success in College and Beyond." He also writes for The New York Times Magazine and Parents Magazine.

The hourlong program is free and begins at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Meeting Room. For more information, call Teen Services Librarian Margaret Walsh at 203-622-7915.
