Safe Rides Seeks Adult Volunteers

The Greenwich chapter of the American Red Cross is looking for adult volunteers to help with its Safe Rides program.

The program is a teen-led and teen-operated program that provides free and confidential rides home for local teens on Friday and Saturday nights. Each year, more than 400 local teens volunteer their services for more than 1,250 rides each year. The Safe Ride alternative prevents drunken driving and gives guidance to teens who want to lead a drug- and alcohol-free lifestyle.

Fulika Cassel, communications manager, said the Greenwich Red Cross is looking for volunteers Friday and Saturday nights to be the adult present at the Chapter House during the hours of service. The adult provides guidance in case of an emergency and provides communication to the student team leader.
