Ron Howard to Judge Greenwich Student Film Fest

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Film director Ron Howard of Greenwich will be one of the celebrity judges for this year's first Greenwich Youth Film Festival. Students from Fairfield and Westchester counties are encouraged to enter.

The contest, sponsored by the Junior League of Greenwich and Greenwich Library, asks students to express themselves through the art of film in a positive way. Film and video entries are being accepted online at the Junior League’s website in five genres: Creative, Music Video, Animation, Documentary and Public Service Announcement.

Cash prizes totaling $4,000 will be awarded to winners in the five category, and one of the five will be overall festival winner. Howard will be the judge for Creative; Blue Sky Studios will judge Animation; Clayton Pecorin will judge Documentary; Gretchen Carlson will judge Public Service Announcements and Jeff Cardoni will judge Music Video.

Deadline for submissions is Feb. 17. The winners will be announced at the film festival on April 28 at 1 p.m. in the Cole Auditorium of Greenwich Library. Top film and video submissions from each genre will be shown. The event will also include a panel of film industry professionals.
