Red Cross Holds Winter Class for Seniors

With winter storms right around the corner, the Greenwich chapter of the American Red Cross is holding free disaster education classes for seniors that will instruct what to do during power outages, how to deal with winter storm damage and how to protect yourself.

Emergency services staff and Department of Health representatives will discuss how to develop an emergency plan, put a shelter in place, build a disaster kit, and handle medications and vital equipment. Each participant will be given a "File of Life" to record emergency contacts and information, a starter disaster kit with basic supplies, a first aid kit and an emergency space blanket.

The 60-minute discussion will be served with a free lunch at the Greenwich chapter offices, 99 Indian Field Road. Dates are: Nov. 16, Dec. 14, Jan. 11, Feb. 15 and March 15. For more information, look online or call 203-869-8444, Ext. 104.
