A special holiday performance by Nappy's Puppets and the show, "Santa Gets Fired: A Shadow Spectacular," along with a variety of hands-on activities will entertain the entire family at the Paper Theaters Family Day at the Bruce Museum.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. Dec. 12 and is a celebration of the the Bruce Museum's current exhibition, "A Child's View: 19th-Century Paper Theaters." In addition to the shows, a special gallery hunt will be held through the exhibition and hands-on craft making of paper-theater characters will be offered in the workshop.
Jim Napolitano, a native of Milford and a graduate of the University of Connecticut's Puppet Arts Program, will perform the Nappy's Puppets show at 2 p.m. He has performed around the world, and his work can be seen on the PBS show "Between the Lions." His other television credits include "The Book of Pooh," "The Weinerville Chanukah Special," "A Show of Hands," and "Stick Stickly."
Filled with shadow vignettes and silly songs, "Santa Gets Fired: A Shadow Spectacular" is a five-part puppet miniseries focused on the many jobs Santa Claus had before he took his post at the North Pole. The show will be at 4 p.m.
The Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive in Greenwich. All of the day's activities are suitable for children of all abilities ages 5 years and up. Activities are free with museum admission of $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, and free for children under 5. No reservations are necessary.
