"To date, 35 women have accepted an invitation to join PYP to fund a transformative grant to give to one local Greenwich charity," said founder Nina Lindia.
In contrast to other grant-funding organizations, PYP has no external request for proposal process. Instead, members pay $1,000 annual dues, which fund the single annual $25,000 grant. The members then pitch and educate their peers on deserving local causes, and the entire membership evaluates the proposed recipients and votes.
PYP's founding board members, Nina Lindia, Brooke Bohnsack, Rachel LeMasters and Dara Johnson, are personally underwriting any start-up costs, so that 100 percent of members' annual dues will go directly to fund the grant award.
The four Greenwich founders bring years of local charity involvement, corporate marketing experience and special event planning to this novel charitable concept.
"With an active, informed membership of charitable women, and an acute focus on local causes, Pitch Your Peers should be a powerful voice in local giving for years to come," Bohnsack said. "It also represents a franchise model that could be easily reproduced in other philanthropically-minded towns across the United States.
