The Greenwich Library is looking for volunteers to take part in its Oral History Project. Since 1973, volunteers have been doing research and conducting interviews. The library's Oral History collection now boasts more than 800 interviews about the town's past. There are also published interviews in 136 books that can be found at all of the libraries in Greenwich.
The library will host a class to train volunteers. According to public relations officer Kate Petrov, the session topics include the background of oral history, interview techniques and the history of the project. There are a number of volunteer positions, such as editing, indexing, photo research, interviewing, public relations, and administrative support.
The award-winning project is co-sponsored by the Greenwich Historical Society and the Friends of Greenwich Library.
