Maya Angelou Headlines at Christ Church

You can expect a packed crowd at Christ Church Greenwich when Maya Angelou is the guest speaker next month.

The legendary poet and author will speak Saturday, April 2, as part of the "Conversations on Courage and Faith" series. She will be accompanied by a performance from Rob Mathes Gospel Singers & Rhythm Section.

Angelou has been called a global renaissance woman. She is best known for her series of six autobiographical books that focus on her childhood and life as a young adult. Her first and most famous book was titled, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings". In 1971, she was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for her poetry volume, "Just Give me a Cool Drink of Water 'Fore I Diie". Angelou has served on two presidential committees and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Arts in 2000.

The lecture will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $65 and are available online.
