Marion Sterlinski, 82, Greenwich HR Assistant

GREENWICH, Conn. – Marion P. Sterlinski of Greenwich died May 6, of cancer, after a brife illness. She was 82. 

Sterlinski was a retired personnel assistant of many years for the Town of Greenwich Human Resources Department.

She was born March 16, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Maurice and Nora McSweeney. She graduated from Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School and Kaupert Secretarial Institute. 

After graduation, Sterlinski worked for the foreign service division of General Motors in New York City. She met her future husband, Anthony Sterlinski, while working there. They married and moved to Greenwich in 1958. 

She remained active in her retirement, working several summers in the beach card office of the Town of Greenwich. Sterlinki also volunteered at Community Answers at the Greenwich Library for many years. She then volunteered 700 hours at Greenwich Hospital. 

An avid reader, she enjoyed going to the movies on Sunday afternoons and attending a Broadway show in New York. Sterlinski toured the Hawaii, California and the Pacific Northwest.  

She is survived a daughter, Claire, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband; a sister, Nora Rosenberger; and a brother, James McSweeney.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home in Greenwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Burial will follow at St Mary's Cemetery.
