Platinum recording artist Maria Muldaur will bring her vivacious mix of jazz, country and blues as she kicks off the Peterson Concert Series on Sunday at the Greenwich Library.
Muldaur's latest album "Yes We Can!" was released in 2008. She has 26 others under her belt. Muldaur was born and raised in New York City's Greenwich Village and found her musical inspiration by walking through Washington Square Park, listening to blues and gospel music on the streets.
Her solo career took off with "Midnight at the Oasis" and "I'm a Woman," which became her signature anthem for power and femininity. She has worked with a number of acclaimed artists, including Bob Dylan, Paul Butterfield, Stevie Wonder and Garth Brooks.
In her most recent album, Muldaur rallied a number of powerful women and dubbed them "The Women's Voices for Peace Choir." The list includes Jane Fonda, Odetta, Holly Near, Bonnie Raitt and Joan Baez. "It is our hope that our efforts here will inspire minds and hearts and that these songs will become a Soundtrack to the Change we must all become a part of," said Muldaur.
