Lights of Hope to Shine in Park

Hundreds of twinkling lights will fill Binney Park on Saturday, Dec. 4, as the Family Centers kicks off its "Hope Lights Lives" holiday campaign. The campaign supports the Center for HOPE and The Den for Grieving Kids.

The organization is selling luminary  kits -- 12 white paper bags, 12 tea light candles and 12 plastic candle holders  -- to Fairfield County residents, according to Bill Brucker, director of communications for Family Centers. Over 6,000 kits were sold in 2009.

All proceeds go to the Center for Hope and The Den for Grieving Kids. Each helps residents deal with a critical illness or the loss of a loved one through group discussions and counseling.

There will be a countywide lighting on Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. when thousands of residents will display luminaries in their front yards to celebrate the holidays and remember those who have died. The kits are available for $25 online, at Greenwich Family Centers and at the Binney Park lighting. For more information, call (203) 869-4848.
