GREENWICH, Conn. — What an “unforgettable” night for all who attended the amazing Natalie Cole concert at the Palace Theatre on Saturday, May 5, to benefit Dana’s Angels Research Trust (DART). We are so grateful to Natalie for the compassion and love she showed both on and off stage to our daughter Dana, who is afflicted with Niemann-Pick type C, a rare and degenerative disease for which there is no cure.

We also sincerely thank Merrill Lynch Wealth Management for co-sponsoring the event with DART; Kathie Lee and Frank Gifford for again hosting the night; Hannah Storm and Dan Hicks for presenting DART’s Guardian Angel awards to two eminent doctors in the field of NPC research; U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal for his encouraging words and recognition of these doctors; and Stamford Mayor Michael Pavia for being there once again and supporting our cause.

We could never present a wonderful gala like this without the dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly for months to make the night so special and help to bring the awareness and support of the community to our family and all the families battling NPC. We are grateful to all of them. And many thanks to all the local businesses and generous people who donated to our auction and provided the event with an incredible variety of prizes, including wines, jewelry, sports events, artwork and so much more.

DART is a 501(c)3 public charity that funds medical research into finding a cure or viable treatment for Niemann-Pick type C disease. Two of our four children — Dana, 18, and Andrew, 12 — have the disease, and our family is determined to save all kids with NPC and give them back the full lives that all children are entitled to have. For information about DART, go to our website, www.DanasAngels.org. Again, we thank everyone who contributed to another rewarding and successful night for DART!
