Let Them Drink Wine

Ernest Hemingway once said "wine is the most civilized thing in the world." The Greenwich Wine Society would probably agree. But why not find out for yourself Thursday night at the Grand N.Y. State Wine Tasting.

The two-year-old society will host a tasting at the Hyatt Regency of Greenwich from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Special guest Ned Towle, director of the Westchester Wine School, will offer his expertise to guests.

Society founder and wine enthusiast Dean Gamanos said the wine events are casual and a great way to meet people, relax and enjoy great food and wine.

Three well-known N.Y wineries will be represented to introduce guests to their wines; Millbrook Vineyard and Winery, the largest in the Hudson Valley, is known for its award-winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet. Ravines Wines Cellars' winemaker Morten Hallgreen will showcase the winery's Riesling and Meritage. Long Island's Wolffer Estates will show off its Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Franc wines.
