Learn Pet First Aid STAT!

Pets are important members of any family, but in a life-threatening situation would you know how to help them? The Greenwich chapter of the American Red Cross is offering classes on first aid for animals to help you help your pet when it's in danger.

At the class, you and your family will learn when to call for emergency assistance for an injured animal and how to properly move an injured pet. You'll learn how to determine what is normal for your cat or dog and how to recognize and care for signs of sudden illness. The class will also help you recognize and provide care for signs of cardiac arrest in your animal and identify signs of breathing emergencies. In addition, you'll learn how to put together a "pet friendly" first aid kit.

The class is offered from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at 99 Indian Field Road. For information on fees, call 203-869-8444 or visit the website for the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross.
