Keep Trick-or-Treaters Safe in the Night

Ghost, goblins and everything else that goes bump in the night will soon be trick-or-treating in Greenwich, but the local chapter of the American Red Cross says that even the scariest creatures need to stay safe on All Hallows Eve.

Some of the greatest hazards on Halloween are not vampire bites, but costume malfunctions, falls and vehicles.

Here are some tips on how to keep you and your family safe:

• Map a roaming route for you and your hobgoblin.

• Bring a flashlight, just in case you run into some creatures of the night.

• Whether flying, riding, walking or sneaking, do it on a sidewalk.

• Be cautious of cars.

• Werewolves, zombies and monsters should remember to stay lawns and sidewalks and visit houses only where the lights are on.

• Have a grownup inspect your candy before eating it.
