Indian Food Expert to Dish Up Cookbook

Enjoy Indian food? Then you won't want to miss actress and bestselling cookbook author Madhur Jaffrey when she discusses her latest book, "At Home with Madhur Jaffrey," at Greenwich Library on Dec. 8.

Presented as part of the free series, Authors Live at Greenwich Library, Jaffrey will offer up deconstructed age-old techniques and easy recipes for dishes she grew up eating in India and then shared with her family and friends in America.

Widely regarded as the world authority on Indian food, Jaffrey has written a book that includes recipes for bite-sized snacks to accompany drinks or tea, spinach-and-ginger soup seasoned with cloves, seafood rubs, and her favorite masala omelet. She explains fresh and easy ways to cook chicken with themes from different parts of India: from western Goa cooked in garlic, onion and a splash of vinegar; from Bombay, it's with apricots; from Delhi, stewed with spinach and cardamom; from eastern India, it has yogurt and cinnamon; and from the south, mustard, curry leaves and coconut.

Books will be available for purchasing and signing through Diane's Books at the event at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, in the Cole Auditorium at Greenwich Library.
