Vladimir Aleksandrovich Gusinsky, who has owned a home in Greenwich, turns 61 on Sunday. He was born Oct. 6, 1952, in Moscow, Russia. He began his career as an actor and director in the provincial city of Tula in1979 and later took advantage of economic liberalization to establish a private business in late 1980 and set up a consulting company that facilitated joint ventures between Soviet and Western firms. He is known as the founder of the Media-Most holding company that included Most Bank in 1989. He also founded the newspaper Segodnya and magazines and the first independent television channel NTV in Russia. He now owns the RTVi television channel and significant amount of other media assets in United States and Russia, including movie production companies, Internet portal com, radio and television stations.
