The Grinch who stole Christmas managed to steal the ice-carving contest too last weekend at the Greenwich Reindeer Festival and Holiday Stroll. The $600 first prize went to sculptor Daniel Bergins cool likeness of the green meanie.
The contest, which ran from 1 to 4 p.m. up and down Greenwich Avenue on Saturday, was judged on Sunday. The $300 second prize went to a sculpture of an elf and the $100 third prize went to a sculpture of a train.
Those who missed the icy masterpieces on Greenwich Avenue can catch the elf and a reindeer that received honorable mention at McArdles Florist. They will be near the reindeer pen throughout December.
