GREENWICH, Conn. Ceramics, jewelry, wearable and decorative fiber and metalwork as well as art made of wood, leather, glass and more will be for sale at the Bruce Museums 27th Annual Outdoor Crafts Festival in Greenwich.
The festival, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 19 and 20, will feature the crafts of more than 80 artisans. It also will include activities for children, international cuisine and live music performances inside and outside the museum.
We are very excited to celebrate the 27th anniversary of this prestigious crafts festival, director Sue Brown Gordon said in a statement. The show has been privileged to select from some of the finest craft artists. Festivalgoers will be excited to collect pieces from artists whose works are found in museums and galleries around the country. While exhibitors offer fine one-of-a-kind treasures, they also offer prices even a young collector could afford.
The artists will be competing for $3,600 in prizes. The judges are Dennis Bradbury of 22 Haviland Street Gallery in Norwalk and Gabrielle Savage, gallery manager from the Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan.
On Saturday, May 19, from noon to 4 p.m., the live entertainment features the blues/rock sounds of Lucid headlining on the main stage. On Sunday, May 20, the Mallett Brothers Band from Portland, Maine, performs from noon to 4 p.m.
In addition, festival favorite Ed Wright plays acoustic originals on guitar both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Performances inside the museum Sunday, May 20, include Sono Guitar School student recital from 11 a.m. to noon and Annalisa Ewald on classical guitar from 1 to 4 p.m.
The festival is held rain or shine on the Bruce Museum grounds at 1 Museum Drive in Greenwich. Admission is free to members, $8 for nonmembers and free for children under 5. Admission includes all festival activities, plus entry to the Bruce Museum, which is open during festival hours.
Visitors can join the Bruce Museum as a member for free admission and receive instant discounts at the show and in the museum's store.
