GREENWICH, Conn. -- A Greenwich resident whose granddaughter has peanut allergies helped to create a product to remove peanut allergens from hard surfaces.

Through his work at Nice-Pak , the maker of Nice ‘n CLEAN, Robert Julius has helped create Nice ‘n CLEAN Antibacterial Hand Wipes. The product removes 99 percent of peanut allergen residues from the surfaces, according to an announcement.

The company has partnered with the Food Allergy Research Association (FARE) to support FARE's mission of safety and inclusion for individuals with food allergies.

The partners bring awareness of how Nice 'n CLEAN Antibacterial Hand Wipes can benefit those with sensitivities to peanut allergens.

The company will donate 1 percent of every purchase of Nice ‘n CLEAN Antibacterial Hand Wipes to FARE for education and advocacy work.

Julius' granddaughter, Mia, was 14-months-old when diagnosed as allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and shellfish.

“Mia's life has been drastically affected by her allergies. School, play dates, playgrounds and airplanes, in particular, all became scary places," he said.

Many people rely on anti-bacterial liquids to cleanse their hands and what they don’t realize is they are just moving the dirt around, Julius explained.

“With a wipe, you are wiping your hands, killing germs and removing them – a much more effective way to keep clean.

“The ability to carry the wipes with you and protect yourself outside the home was an important consideration in the creation of the product,” he added.

Nice-Pak is a fourth-generation family-owned business, founded in the 1950s by Arthur Julius.

Robert Julius recently participated in the FARE Walk for Food Allergy, Nice ‘n CLEAN sponsored.
