Greenwich residents in the 06830 and 06831 zip codes should have received a brown paper bag in their mailboxes in the past week to put the non-perishable goods into.
Letter carriers will collect the filled bags on Saturday and bring them to Neighbor to Neighbor. Volunteers will sort the donations, which will then be distributed to Greenwich residents in need through the food pantry.
“Each week we provide free food for more than 1,000 Greenwich residents, half of whom are children,” Neighbor to Neighbor Executive Director Nancy Coughlin said in the release. “Food drives such as this remind us how much we can accomplish by coming together with a common purpose.”
Kings Super Markets donated 30,000 paper bags for the food drive. Customers can find a coupon on the bag to be redeemed at the Kings’ Old Greenwich location.
“The letter carriers appreciate the community support of this food drive, especially in light of tough economic times for a lot of people,” coordinator Howard Dinnerstein said.
