Greenwich Point Offers Safe Roads in Winter

Joggers, cyclists, rollerbladers and walkers have a chance to enjoy Greenwich Point without the worry of cars whizzing past. The Friends of Greenwich Point and the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department are sponsoring the annual "Safe Road Sundays."

In the program, people can enjoy the open roads from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Sunday until April 10. Craig Whitcomb, operations manager at the point, said many people take advantage of the peaceful hours.

Traffic is restricted to the front parking lots. Only vehicles with special permits will be allowed to drive to the back of the point.

Let's chat: Do you think these hours should be extended into the summer? Why or why not? Leave a comment or send me an email at acorbett@mainstreetconnect.us.
