GREENWICH, Conn. Police Officer Terral Hardy retired after 23 years of service with the Greenwich department, Chief of Police James Heavey announced Monday.
Hardy received a number of commendations for excellent police work and actions exemplifying the best tradition of police service. Over the years, he played a key role in capturing suspects in a jewelry store robbery and dangerous escaped convicts and also in life-saving efforts on medical calls.
Hardy was not only recognized by his supervisors for his police work, but his file is also replete with letters of praise and gratitude from the citizens whom he served.
Hardy was raised in Queens, N.Y., where he graduated from John Browne High School in 1982. He attended Westchester Community College, Temple University and the University of Connecticut.
He was sworn in as a police officer July 11, 1988, and graduated with the 212th class of the Connecticut POST Basic Police Academy in October that year. Hardy was assigned to the uniformed patrol division for most of his career. For the last two years, he has been on temporary assignment within the departments Information Technology Section, handling many of the computer needs of a modern police department.
