He will appear on the program, hosted by author and minister Peter Wallace, on Sunday, Dec. 15, and Sunday, Dec. 22.
His sermon for Dec. 15, the third Sunday of Advent, draws from Matthew 11:2-11 and is entitled “Looking for Christmas?”
Grant’s sermon for Dec. 22, called “Expecting Christmas,” is based on Matthew 1:18-25.
“Expectations can be so exhausting,” he said in a release. “I think that’s why the season of Advent, these weeks before Christmas, seem so full of counter-cultural potential. They imagine such a different way of preparing for the birth of Jesus, one that can’t be rushed or shoehorned in between trips to the mall."
Grant, who came to 2CC in February 2012, is a graduate of Yale Divinity School, where he was awarded the Mersick Prize for Preaching.
Before coming to 2CC, he was pastor of the Community Church of the Pelhams United Church of Christ in Pelham as well as the chairman of the Executive Committee of the New York Conference of the UCC.
