The sixth annual “Howl & Prowl” Halloween pet costume party begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at Greenwich Common Park at 290 Greenwich Ave., according to a press release. All proceeds will go to the Adopt-A-Dog animal rescue organization, with Pet Pantry Warehouse sponsoring the day's events.

"'Howl & Prowl’ has become a successful and really fun way for the Pet Pantry Warehouse to support our friends at Adopt-A-Dog,” said Adam Jacobson, owner of the Pet Pantry Warehouse, in the release. “The awareness and spotlight that ‘Howl & Prowl’ brings to this sanctuary is wonderful.  To have the ability to help Adopt-A-Dog with its mission of finding safe, permanent and loving homes for companion animals is a great feeling. We are looking forward to our best year yet and we encourage everyone to come out.”

The day will feature a pet costume contest with awards worth $600, free refreshments, free photos and free caricatures by local artist Bill Hernandez, according to the release.

There will be food samples and giveaways from more than 15 pet food manufacturers, including Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Natura, Stella and Chewys, Nature’s Variety, Merrick, Natural Balance, Halo and Earthborn.

“How can you top a day of laughs and fun with your kids and pets that assists animals in need in the process?” said Joshua Roth, vice president of the Pet Pantry Warehouse, in the release. “All pets and pet owners are welcome to attend the costume party in the park and, of course, ‘trick or treats’ will be available for everyone.”
