Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend Ushers In Christmas Season

GREENWICH, Conn. — Residents got outside and caught the Christmas spirit at the eighth annual Greenwich Holiday Stroll Weekend, an event that encompassed all of downtown and uptown Greenwich.

The event, presented by Whole Foods Market, took place Saturday, Dec. 3, and Sunday, Dec. 4.

Families took carriage rides up and down Greenwich Avenue in the crisp December air, professional ice sculptors performed magic with blocks of ice and live music entertained shoppers all weekend.

A live Nativity featured a blessing of the animals, as well as lessons and carols.

Children got their chance to write letters to Santa at stores and sent them off in special mailboxes.

As many as 130 merchants provided holiday refreshments and special attractions in their stores while a food truck village offered a variety of cuisine options for dining al fresco.

On Saturday, children looked at the live reindeer, had their photo taken with Santa and rode on a train and carousel at Sam Bridge Nursery and Greenhouses at the eighth annual Greenwich Reindeer Festival & Santa’s Village, which continues Monday through Saturday through Christmas Eve.
