The event was held at the Greenwich Country Club, where the scouts and their families could partake of chili and paddle tennis. Dads, too, were particularly drawn to participate in the Girl Scout chili contest.
Scouts also had the opportunity to interact with a female role model. Santilli was "a wonderful judge and a great sport throughout the entire event," a news release noted. In uniform, Santilli told the girls they could play any sport they put their minds to.
The money raised at the event was donated to Audrey Pizzilota and Brinkley Blum for their troop's project to create a traveling library with age-appropriate books.
"This event was a home run for the Silver Shield and the young female youth of our community," said Sgt. Timothy Hildebrand, president of the Greenwich Police Silver Shield Association. " The Silver Shield supports all aspects of our town."
The Silver Shield Association was founded in 1958. Its mission is to provide excellent police services to the citizens and businesses of the Town of Greenwich, to embrace community projects, and enhance the professional abilities of the police officers.
