Greenwich Gallery To Host Rare Street Art Show

GREENWICH, Conn. – A Greenwich Avenue art gallery will host a rare street art show titled, “One Every Street,” curated by contemporary street artist Michael DeFeo.

The show promises to deliver a large scope of original and rare pieces from street art legends to today’s most popular talents. Highlights include original authenticated pieces from Basquiat, Keith Haring and Richard Hambelton. The show will open with a reception Thursday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Samuel Own Gallery, 378 Greenwich Ave.

Curator Michael DeFeo is best known in the street art movement for his ubiquitous flower image. He has been creating illegal works on the streets of cities all over the world for the past 18 years.

Each artist will provide one to three pieces, some creating works specifically for the show. Among the show’s featured artists will be accomplished icons Shepard Fairey, whose Barack Obama “Hope” post print became synonymous with the president’s campaign; Banksy, known for his stenciled satirical, political and social commentary artwork; and John Fekner, an early influencer in the movement known for his original and stenciled words, symbols, dates and icons spray-painted in New York to Germany in the 1970s and 1980s.

The exhibit will run through Nov. 3. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
