Look for her on Wednesday, Dec. 21 alongside "Property Brothers" Jonathan and Drew Scott in a project that had her redesigning several rooms in a Scarsdale, N.Y. home. The work included an entryway, family room, dining room, kitchen and laundry/mud room.
Despite Zachos' love for residential, it's her work as a commercial interior designer, however, that has drawn the attention of the region’s luxury developers.
The 20-something Floridian, who moved to the Northeast in 2010 to expand her business, has been at the forefront of Westchester and Fairfield County’s growing commercial re-design movement.
In the past year, she’s worked with David Mann, Westchester’s in-demand luxury developer, to create 3D renderings and provide model merchandising options for his various projects throughout the county.
Working with other corporate office building owners, the Zachos team has helped to modernize a number of vacant, overlooked spaces that seemed dated for the 21st century. ZDG’s cutting-edge work has helped developers attract new tenants and increase occupancy rates throughout Westchester and Fairfield counties.
Some of that work has included the update of corridors, lobbies and building conference rooms as well as complete redesigns, like the recent mid-century modern design that Zachos completed on a corporate building in Valhalla.
“We like to think out of the box by breathing new life into buildings and creating new textures in a space such as brick/stone or perhaps exposing a ceiling to create an industrial/creative working environment,” explained Zachos.
It’s all part of an approach she and her team use to capture a property’s existing architecture and then update it to reflect a more modern approach.
“If a client can visualize their company in the space, then the building owners are more likely to consider leasing," said Zachos.
To that end, she likes to think her residential work can be easily carried over to the commercial space. Added Zachos: “Any space should feel inviting and evoke a sense of emotion, whether it’s at home or at work.”
