Wine and spirits expert Zack Kameron, sommelier at Morello Italian Bistro on Greenwich Avenue, knows Greenwich patrons aren't interested in just any old cocktail when they hit the town. Theyre looking for something that is a twist on something they already know, he said. They certainly enjoy classic drinks, but I think when people go out theyre looking for something more than just a two-ingredient drink.
Kameron, who has been at Morello for three years, said the Greenwich clientele tends to want a twist on classic drinks. When you take them to that next level, where theyre comfortable enough seeing the ingredients for the drink, but intrigued by what we put into it, that weve made something special, he said.
Kameron works with a behind-the-scenes team to create Morellos drink recipes from different infusions, to names and garnishes. During the holidays we try to create cocktails that are not only inventive, fun and unique, but involve seasonal flavors, fruits, vegetables and spices, he said.
