Thirty pajama-clad third-grade girls were given lessons in positive self-esteem at Junior League of Greenwich Positively Me! events last weekend.
The girls were such enthusiastic participants and very receptive to learning more about themselves, said Chris Zadik, president of the Junior Leagues Positively Me! program. I know that the girls took away a lot from the weekend and had a great time, as well.
The sessions were held at Junior League headquarters, 231 East Putnam Ave., and included interactive lessons to help the girls develop the skills to be confident and make good decisions. One 9-year-old participant said, "The program is super excellent.
On Friday night, the girls played games, had discussions and used journaling, all while wearing their pajamas. Prizes were awarded for the most creative and fun PJs. Saturday focused on girls dreams and goals, appreciating themselves and their abilities and taking pride in their accomplishments.
In the course of two days, we taught these girls what makes them unique and special, and helped them learn how to believe in themselves, said Zadik.
