After three years on the market, Mel Gibson's 77-acre Greenwich estate was recently sold for almost $24 million, according to an online real estate site.
The Elizabethan-inspired Tudor manor was built in 1926 and designed by Charles Lewis Bowman, reported PropGoLuxury.com. The mansion boasts 15,800-square-feet of living space, which includes 15 bedrooms, 17 bathrooms, a tennis court, private pond, greenhouse, formal gardens and terrace pool. Gibson decorated the house to look like a monastery.
The property was originally listed with Sotheby's International Realty for $39.5 million, but due to the turbulent housing market, the price dropped to $29.7 million. Gibson bought the mansion in 1994 for $9.25 million. The buyer of the historic home was Cosette Property LLC.
