Get Jazzed at Library Book Sale

Parents looking for something fun and educational to do with their kids this weekend might want to stop by the Cos Cob Library's Open House and Book Sale, which is celebrating the library's 80th anniversary.

Library branch manager Wendy Silver said there will be arts and crafts for children, the presentation of the grand prize for the Summer Reading Club and bargains on some of the hottest books.

Brian Boots and Friends, a local '40s band, will energize guests and take them on a ride through the library's history.

"I love it when the community comes together to celebrate the library," said Silver. "There really is something for everyone. From the arts and crafts for the kids to music and dancing for teens."

Old pictures and newspaper clippings depicting the library's history will be hung in the community room. Guests will be able to share their memories on index cards that will be posted next to the timeline.

The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Refreshments will be provided along with free ice cream.
