A howling good time is coming to the Bruce Museum on Thursday, July 22. It's Wolf Day, headlined by Atka, a six-year-old Arctic gray wolf from the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, N.Y. The museum strongly recommends that you make reservations in advance.
The day begins at 11 a.m. for children age 3 to 5, with stories about wolves and materials on hand for creating wolf masks. Atka appears at 1 p.m. with handler, Maggie Howell.
At 2:30, Emmy-award-winning cinematographer Bob Landis will host a screening of his wildlife film, In the Valley of the Wolves made for the PBS series, Nature. Its his third story about the adventures of the wolf pack known as the Druids. This time, he found the pack in trouble, with its survival at stake. The film is suitable for children age six and up.
At 7 p.m. Landis returns for a special screening of his latest project, Casanova Wolf. He'll present never-before-seen footage of the wolves of Yellowstone Park.
All Wolf Day programs are co-sponsored by the Yellowstone Park Foundation. For tickets, call the museum at 203-869-0376. Prices vary, depending on the program you choose. The morning costs $4 for members, $6 for non-members. For the afternoon and evening programs, its $5 for members and $7 for nom-members. The Bruce Museum is located at 1 Museum Drive in Greenwich.
