And yes, to watch a fashion show.
Models included area youngsters, as well as adults of all ages. They all strutted their stuff down the Avenue runway — a red carpet stretched out on Greenwich Avenue — showing off designs from area retailers and designers.
Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei and event founder and NaveaStyle President Geri Corrigan gave brief remarks before the show, and international recording artist Christina Connors of Greenwich sang the National Anthem.
"We're excited this year, because we've partnered with the Greenwich Arts Council," Corrigan told Daily Voice. "We have almost 50 models in the store, over 20 stores, also independent designers. We have about a dozen sponsors - which is about three times what we've had in the past.
"We've got a Nat Sherman cigar sampling, Mercedes-Benz, gourmet food trucks ... a little bit of everything this year. We're excited that every year it grows. It's a beautiful evening, and brings out a great crowd."
Greenwich Avenue was closed from Elm Street to Havemeyer Place for the live outdoor ‘red carpet’ runway show. This year’s event was held in a new location, in partnership with The Greenwich Arts Council.
The show also featured a performance by dancers from The Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich and boats presented by Beacon Point Marine. Greenwich CrossFit held fitness demonstrations, Zen Bronze offered free refreshments and guests also enjoyed delicacies provided by gourmet food trucks.
