Discover Nature in Winter at Audubon Greenwich

With winter school vacation starting Monday, you may be looking for a way to get your child out of the house. Luckily, Audubon Greenwich is offering winter weather-themed outings for kids from Feb. 14 to Feb. 18. Pack a snack and a lunch, and be prepared to be outside in all kinds of weather.

Winter break campers in kindergarten through third grade can sign up for one to four fun-filled days of hikes, games and crafts. Monday’s theme is “Marvelous Mammals,” Tuesday’s is “Tracks and Traces,” Wednesday’s is “Winter Survival Strategies, Thursday’s is “Wild About Winter” and Friday’s theme is “Great Backyard Bird Count Day.”

Children in grades 4 through 6 can sign up to participate in Friday’s great backyard bird count, in which campers of all ages will travel to two locations in Greenwich in search of winter birds. Data collected will help scientists and bird enthusiasts determine where birds are across the continent.

All events run 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $55 a day for members and $65 a day for nonmembers. For more information call Lindsey DeVito at 203-869-5272, Ext. 235, and to sign up visit Audubon’s website.
