Editor's note: David Theis is running for re-election to the Greenwich Board of Selectmen.
GREENWICH, Conn. I feel fortunate to have been born in this town. With the benefit of serving in the selectman's office for the last two years, it has become even more apparent.
As a third-generation Greenwich native, I believe it is incumbent upon me to try and give something back.
I have a lifetime of experience and relationships to draw from in all aspects of life in Greenwich. This would include experience in education, recreation and finance, along with extensive volunteer service.
We need to continue to practice fiscal restraint while keeping taxes low and predictable. This should not be done by compromising public safety or the needs of our senior citizens.
Government at all levels must learn to live within its means, the same way we have to in our personal lives.
A goal would be to improve the quality of life for someone somehow in Greenwich each and every day.
