Couple's Web Site Is Clicking

Many small businesses folded and many people lost their jobs during the 2008 economic downturn. But Elaine and ChiChi Ubina saw the recession as an opportunity to grow their photography business by adding a magazine-style Website.

"People love to see themselves at parties and in pictures," said ChiChi. "The site is a good time-waster," Elaine added. "It's almost like popcorn."

The pair, who have 18 years in the photography business, created their Fairfield County Look site as a promotional tool for clients. It focuses on parties and benefits and gives clients a way to view photos of events online.

"The site has really connected people," said Elaine. "People will find one another on the site and contact us to get in touch with them."

Elaine and ChiChi are doing what they love and running a business, too. The couple, who have four children, started the business in New York City, then moved to Greenwich and began shooting charity events in Fairfield County. ChiChi handles the creative side and photographs designers, houses and gardens, while Elaine focuses on benefits.

The site is also attracting potential homebuyers. Elaine said she gets calls from people looking to buy in the area. She said the site is a good way to see what's going on in the community and the people living in it.

The Ubina's intend to keep the site's design "light, lively and fun" since many of their readers are magazine fans.

The business has really grown because of [Fairfield County Look]," said Elaine. "A lot of organizations want to be on the site and show their parties and benefits."
